Valerie A. Rivera

Lead Planner

Valerie is a Lead Planner at Facet and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®). She is incredibly passionate about building financial confidence and providing education for all. After personally seeing the most vulnerable people being the most targeted, it inspired Valerie to be a part of the change. She entered into financial services over ten years ago to help change the face of the industry and act as a catalyst for people to feel secure about their own financial success.

Valerie is a life-long student of her craft and avid reader. You can often find her diving into a book about financial planning, behavioral economics and tax efficiency. The current read is one she recommends for anyone, The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel.

She is born and raised in Chicago (Go Sox!) and resides in the heart of the city with her husband of nearly 10 years, Dan and their 18-month-old daughter, Violet Esperanza. When not in quarantine, they love international travel, trying all types of cuisine and hosting backyard movie screenings with friends and family.

Education: Northeastern IL University: Bachelor of Arts, Economics; DePaul University: Certificate in Financial Planning

Violet and I walking around our neighborhood this summer.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?

Schitt’s Creek….I’m trying to go slow and savor every last moment. Eww David!

What's the best meal you've ever had?

Fresh pasta in truffle oil with a glass of crisp, white wine in Zaza’s in Florence. The date was March 20, 2016 and I have a photo to back it up!

Where's your favorite place in the world?

Oaxaca, Mexico. The food is unlike any traditional Mexican cuisine and is absolutely delicious. The streets look like art work that has come to life. The people are the most humble, hard-working and kind I’ve ever encountered. I can’t wait to share this gem of a city with my daughter!

Who inspires you?

My daughter Violet! I’m in awe of her endless energy and her ability to get cuter every single day.
