“Never be so faithful to your plan that you are unwilling to consider the unexpected. Never be so faithful to your plan that you are unwilling to entertain the improbable opportunity that comes looking for you. And never be so faithful to your plan that when you hit a bump in the road, or when the bumps hit you, you don’t have the fortitude, grace and resiliency to rethink and regroup... Plans or no plans, keep a little space in your heart for the improbable. You won't regret it.” – Elizabeth Warren
Get to know Cait
This is my golden retriever, Charlie. Don’t let her looks in this picture fool you, she’s typically a goofus.
This is my immediate family (sans my two nephews).
My Omi and me. She’s one of the people who inspires me most and loves me the hardest.
My partner and I at the beach. One can’t simply go to the beach without taking the stereotypical white shirt, khaki shorts shot. Amirite?
Who inspires you?
My Omi. (Omi means nana or grandmother in German). She grew up in Germany during WWII and immigrated to the US when she was in her late 20s. Her life was incredibly hard at times, but she never gave up. She’s one of the hardest workers I know and she’s always loved me for me. She was the person who taught me to always chase after my dreams and that a good cup of coffee can bring new life to a bad day.
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
My Golden Retriever, Charlie. She is such a pure and sweet soul who sees good in every human being. I’d love to be able to set aside any preconceived notions that I hold of others and simply just be happy to be alive, to go on car rides, and to get a few Milk-Bones along the way.
Where's your favorite place in the world?
Two places. First is my hometown in Arkansas because when there, I get to be with my family and friends. Second is New Orleans. I moved to NOLA to pursue my MBA and absolutely fell in love. The city has a soul that beats to the drum of diverse culture, good food, great music, and year round celebration.
What's the coolest thing you're working on right now?
I don’t know if “cool” is the best adjective, but the thing that I am working on most right now is my garden. I find a peaceful sense of happiness and contentment through tending to the garden daily. Watching fruits and vegetables grow from just seedlings has proven to be a source of joy and self-care through the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.
